Gerard P. "Jerry" Murphy

Waynesville, Gerard P. “Jerry” Murphy, 73, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of New York City, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Margaret Molloy Murphy.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Murphy.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  Since becoming a resident of Haywood County in 2010, Jerry volunteered many hours with Haywood Christian Ministries and Meals on Wheels, and was also a mediator with the Haywood County Courts.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Murphy; one son, Gregory Murphy and his wife, Donna, of Winston-Salem; one brother, Michael Murphy and his wife, Debbie, of The Villages, Florida; and companion, Linda Jennings.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, with Elder Bryan Myers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Christian Ministries, 150 Branner Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
