Ginger Reid

April 14, 1941 — January 23, 2015

"1941 – 2015" Canton – Virginia "Ginger" Green Reid, age 74, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Silas and Myrtle McMahan Green. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Reid, who died in 2004 and a sister, Norma Green. Ginger was a member of West Canton Baptist Church where she was an active choir member. She served as treasurer of the National Society of Daughters of American Revolution where she served as Regent from 1992 until 1998. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Mulkey and her husband, Scott, of Asheville; one son, Dan Reid of Waynesville; four sisters, Barbara Ross and her husband, J P, of Waynesville, Gail Green of Canton, Mary Jo Sharp and her husband, Mike, of Midway, Tennessee, and Patricia Caldwell and her husband, Jerry, of Asheville; two grandchildren, Hollie and Mariah Reid. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to West Canton Baptist Church Building Fund, 75 Lowe Street, Canton, NC 28716.
