Canton - Gladys Louise Cogburn, age 66, of Cogburn Drive went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2006. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Luther and Gladys Pressley Cogburn. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Bobby, Teddy, and Buddy Cogburn; and two sisters, Vera and Ethel. She was a member of Cruso United Methodist Church. An angel in her own right, Louise was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. We will always cherish and remember her love and devotion. She leaves us with these words of wisdom: "Always take time to stop and smell the roses." In addition to her husband of fifty years, Hubert "Tootsie" Cogburn, she is survived by three daughters, Pam Cogburn of Black Mountain, Teresa Blythe and her husband, Carrol, of Cruso, and Lisa Rice and her husband, Keith, of Fairview; two sisters, Wanda Cogburn and Katherine Clontz both of Canton; a half-sister, Mickey Rathbone of Canton; a brother, Sonny Cogburn and his wife, Patsy, of Canton; and three grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Jason Cogburn and Tristian and Nathan Potter. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2006, at the Cogburn Family Cemetery with Mr. Richard Lanning officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 22 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times the family will be at the residence of Hubert Cogburn. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
