Gladys Franklin

March 13, 1923 — October 29, 2006

Waynesville-Gladys "Granny"Louise Carver Franklin, age 83, of Suttontown Road, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Frances Hannah Carver and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Putnam; son Clarence Franklin and four sisters; Iva Lee Wilkerson, Earlene Reese, Olive Hannah , Agnes Gregg and two brothers, J.D. and Jerry Lee Carver. Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker and a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. She adored all of her family and will be missed by them greatly. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Britt Franklin; three sons, Richard Franklin, and his wife, Peggy, James Franklin, and his wife , Brenda, and Michael Franklin, and his wife Angie, all of Waynesville; two brothers, Robert Carver, of Charlotte and Billy Carver, of Candler; two sisters; Pat Banks, of Asheville, and Thomasine Lindsey, of Fletcher; five grandchildren, Kimberly Holt, and her husband, John, Darren Franklin, and his wife Debbie, Melissa Rich, and her husband, Tracey, Jason Putnam, and his wife, Robin and Wess Putnam; and seven great-grandchildren, Will and Kameron Rich, Geran and Ronin Holt, Hunter, Levi and Tymber Putnam and two adopted sons, Kenny Franklin, and his wife, Melissa of Waynesville and Dale Franklin and his wife, Linda of Forest City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with the Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Ted Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett- Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence of Michael Franklin, 61 Rich Putnam Drive, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Carver, Randy Carver, Darren Franklin, Jason Putnam, Wes Putnam, Kenny Franklin and Andy Caldwell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cove Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1397 Cove Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
