Gladys Matthews

Gladys Williams Matthews, age 91, formerly of Hyder Mountain Road, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home in Canton. She was a native of Sampson County and the daughter of the late Nathan and Julia Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Radford Carl Matthews, who died in 1985 and a grandson, Ricky Wilkes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Raeford, NC. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Matthews Wilkes of Clyde; a son, Carl Grayson Matthews of Elkorn, WI; a brother, Charles Williams of Wade, NC ; three grandchildren, Debbie Wilkes Odom and Daniel and Donald Matthews; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Crumpler Funeral Home chapel in Raeford, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
