GLEN E. ''PAT'' PATTERSON
Clyde-Glen E. ''Pat'' Patterson, age 65, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Herrin, Illinois and had resided in Haywood County for 44 years. He was the son of the late Richard C. Patterson and the late Lora Sexton Patterson Tanner. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was former owner and operator of Patterson Trucking, Main Street Texaco Service, Main Street Chevron, and Main Street Radiator and Repair Shop. He was employed as a glass fabricator for Blue Ridge Glass Company and was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Riggins Patterson; a daughter, Christie Patterson of the Fines Creek Community; a granddaughter, Kimber Thomas, of the Fines Creek Community; two sisters, Pauline Owen, of Herrin, Illinois and Toni Holdman of Texas; in addition to a twin brother, John Patterson, of Herrin, Illinois his other surviving brothers are Claude and Tom Patterson, both of Indiana; an aunt, Lola Stimson, of Waynesville; and a special family friend, Sara Ledford, of Waynesville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday, March 30, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Davis, Reverend Carl Presnell, and Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the funeral home and at other times, will be at the home of Sarah Ledford, 722 Ratcliff Cove Road. Pallbearers will be Hal Price, Richard Birch, Chris Gaddy, Ronnie Smith, Larry Smith, and Dino Leopard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be given to the Glenn Patterson Scholarship Fund, c/o Mountain Bank, 217 Branner Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
