Waynesville, Glenn Hardy Davis, age 84, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. Glenn was a native of Haywood County, he had spent most of his life in Franklin, N.C. He was the son of the late Thurman Carlisle and Minnie Elizabeth Caldwell Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Dean Davis, who passed away in 2004; and two brothers, Ben Harrison Davis and Frank Davis. Glenn was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in WWII and retired as an Accountant with Drake Enterprises in Franklin, NC. Glenn enjoyed computers, listening to local Bluegrass music and going to Cataloochee Homecomings. He is survived by his brother, Dan Davis of Waynesville; two nieces, Millie Green of Chocowinity, NC, Linda Smith of Durham, NC; a nephew Terry Davis (Lee) of Decatur, GA; and a great nephew, Eric Davis. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Eddie Dietz officiating. Military rites will follow the service. Private burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Franklin, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
