Glenn Putnam

Clyde, Glenn Harrison Putnam, age 71, of Liner Creek Road, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fred and Jane Price Putnam. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Putnam, and a grandson, Joseph Swanger. He was employed for more than 30 years at Lea Industries as a furniture inspector. He was of Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and sharing his bounty of vegetables with his neighbors and being with his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Ted Putnam, of Clyde; three daughters, Martha Swanger and her husband, Mike, of Waynesville, Wanda Parton and her husband, Ricky, of Canton, and Glenda Stewart and her husband, Steven, of West Virginia; two brothers, Clinton and Alfred Putnam of Clyde; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charlie Simpson. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Worley, Claude Owens, Mike Swanger, Ricky Parton, Steven Stewart, and Carl Southerland. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of Wanda Parton. Memorials may be made to the Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery Fund, 537 Bald Creek Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
