Glenn Dale "Papa" Warren, age 82, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he had lived in Galveston, TX for 39 years. A veteran of the United States Navy, he was the son of the late Merritt Burrell and Amandie Grooms Warren and the stepson of the late Julia Hall Warren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mollie Williams Warren, who died in 1992; two brothers, Hall and Reeves Warren; and a sister, Burndena Rogers. Glenn enjoyed working on anything with a motor and brakes and loved the challenges brought on by transmissions. He had a "green thumb" and could take plants that were nearly a lost cause and bring them back. He was dedicated and devoted to everything he put his mind to. Glenn was a devoted family man who tried to help everyone. He is survived by his wife, Ann Warren, of Texas; a daughter, Linda Caldwell of Clyde; a sister, Pearl Scott of Asheville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, Luwana McElrath, Krista Wade, Linda Marlor, and Joann Pitts, and other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 574 Brown Cove Road, Clyde.
