Glenna Murray

Canton-Glenna Murray- age 85 of the Bethel Community died Monday, August 18, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Gastonia, NC but, had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She had also lived in Henderson County for a brief time. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ola Mae Curley Smith and the wife of the late Lee Murray who died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 3 brothers and 1 sister. Mrs. Murray was also of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Mildred Earley, Ola Mae McQuerns and Virginia Chambers and her husband Charles all of Canton; 1 son, Robert Murray and his wife Jean of Canton; 2 sisters: Marie Hipps of Fairview and Thelma Southers of Horseshoe; 3 brothers: James and Robert Smith of Canton and Don Smith of Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2003 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend T.M. Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 19, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of the son, Robert Murray, 24 Sparrow Drive, Canton. Pallbearers will be William, Steve, Robbie, and Alan Murray, Dean Williams, Jackie and Jeff Chambers and Mark Parton.
