Glynden Richard "Bud" Justice, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Charles George VA Hospice Center. He was born on June 30, 1929 in Haywood County to the late Richard and Elvira Rhinehart Justice. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by eight siblings. Bud served in the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard for over 26 years where he earned the rank of Sergeant and received several awards. He retired from American Enka after 20 years of employment. Bud was a long time member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and loved singing with the "Humble Hearts" for over 20 years. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Velma Harris Justice; a son, Chuck Justice (Dee), of Candler; siblings, Joretta Wallen of Burnsville, Sue Erwin (Rich)of California, Neal Justice (Martha) of Clyde; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. The family would like to extend their appreciation to VA Hospice Center for the wonderful care they provided during Bud's final days. Flowers are appreciated; however, the family requests that donations be made in Bud's honor to VA Hospice Center, VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
