Gordon Peterson

Maggie Valley-Gordon B. Peterson, age 90, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Marquette County, MI and former resident of Chicago, IL, he had resided in Maggie Valley for the past 27 years. He was the son of the late Waldemer and Esther Vidlund Peterson and also was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Erickson and a brother, Ernest Peterson. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He and his wife owned and operated Peterson Picture Framing in Chicago, IL for 28 years, and he was a member of Maggie United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy Hamilton Peterson, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Maggie United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Buff, Reverend Erma Bond, and Reverend David Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until Noon on Wednesday prior to the services at the church. A private family interment will be held at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maggie United Methodist Child Care Center or Building Fund, 4192 Soco Road, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
