Grace Middleton

Waynesville, Margaret Grace Allen Middleton age 87, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Creekside Villas. Grace was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Cara Lenoir and Mamie Crawford Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry Middleton, who died in 2000; a daughter, Jeanne Middleton Cagle; a great grandchild; three sisters, Ruth Moody, Blanche Phillips, and Nell Wyatt and two brothers, Tud and Roy Allen. Grace was a very active lifelong member of Allens Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked with the youth, was a loyal member of the choir, active in the Golden Harvesters Senior Group, and was very active in the Baptist Missions groups. She was well known in the community as a caregiver, loved to cook and bake her famous pound cakes for friends, and would sing with anyone who offered her the opportunity with her favorites being the old gospel songs. Grace retired from Wellco as a switchboard operator. Grace is survived by a daughter, Joyce Fish and husband, Terry, and grandchildren, Matt and Molly, of Winston Salem, a son, Ed Middleton and wife, Chris, and grandchildren, Ana' Grace of Dallas, Amanda Middleton of Dover, Delaware, and Alyssa Carol Middleton-Yates and husband, Jeff Hall, and great grandchild, Delia Hope Hall of Dover, son-in-law, Tommy Cagle, and grandchild, Dawn Cagle of Waynesville. A celebration of Grace's life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Lloyd Fish and Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haywood Lodge c/o Creekside Villas Solace Room, 251 Shelton Street Waynesville, NC 28786. The family would like to extend our thanks and much praise to the wonderful staff of Creekside Villas for their love and care of Grace while she was living there. They were beyond exceptional in making her comfortable and loved.
