Raleigh, Grace Davis Miller, age 76, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Grace was born in Webster, NC, the daughter of the late Nathan Don and Eva Mae Hyatt Davis. She attended Western Carolina University where she met her husband, Dr. George I. Miller. Grace and her husband raised three children in nearby Waynesville where they opened a dental practice. The Millers subsequently relocated to Cary where they continued their dental practice in partnership with their daughter, Dr. Lynn Godwin. Over the years, Dr. Miller with Grace's encouragement provided free dental work to many children and others in need. She was active in her church communities and participated in local civic activities. Her personal warmth and lively wit provided encouragement and support to everyone she met. Grace is survived by her husband of 57 years and their three children, Dr. Lynn Godwin and her husband, Bill, of Cary, NC, George I. Miller, Jr. and his wife, Cindi, of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Beth Fetvedt and her husband, Jeremy, of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by three siblings, Nathan Davis and his wife, Marie, of Rockingham, NC, Evelyn Brown and her husband, Glenn, of Asheville, NC, and Thomas E. Davis and his wife, Kaye, of Robbinsville, NC. She was also predeceased by her eldest brother, Joseph R. Davis, a World War II Navy pilot. Grace was blessed with nine grandchildren, George I. Miller, III, Davis Miller, Emily Miller, Martha Grace Miller, Eva Godwin, Will Godwin, David Robinson, Erika Grace Fetvedt and Max Fetvedt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in the main sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Waynesville, with Reverend Dr. Dick Maples and Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be George I. Miller, III, David Robinson, Will Godwin, Bill and Robert Brown, Tom and Stuart Davis, Craig Myers, Sal Lettieri and Chris McKeown. The family will receive friends Friday evening, March 30, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville.
