Lake Junaluska, Grace Holland Rhinehart, 94, of 22 Harrell Drive, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at home surrounded by family and friends. Grace was born on September 15, 1920 in Macon County to the late Benjamin and Lula Russell Holland. In death, Grace also joins her husband, Tommy Rhinehart; a sister, Dallas Mathis and brothers, Clell Holland and Wilson Holland and his wife, Callie. Grace and her husband, Tommy, owned and operated Rhinehart's Motel in Maggie Valley for 35 years. She also, with her sisters, Alaska and Dallas, co-owned Mt. Valley Lodge in Maggie Valley for several years. They were all instrumental in developing Maggie Valley into a tourist town. Grace retired to Lake Junaluska in the 1980's and was the second oldest member of Maggie Valley United Methodist Church where she loved being a member of the United Methodist Women. Grace also enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, garden club, shopping and traveling. She traveled the United States and to foreign countries, including Russia, Peru, England, Mexico, Spain and the Holy Land. Left to cherish her memory is one sister, Alaska Pressley, who was very close and special to her; a special nephew, Charles Holland, and his wife, Barbara; two great-nieces, whom she affectionately called her granddaughters, Kim Cutshaw and her husband, Jeff, and Jill McClure and her husband, Ronnie, and his son, Cauley; a special great-great-nephew, Nathan Cutshaw, who was the light of her life; a nephew, Phil Holland; a niece, Pat Messer, and her husband, Harold Dean, and their family; and a close friend, Sara Clarke. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Erma Bond and Reverend Richard Buff officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank caregivers Lillian Barker, Danette Carter, Barbara Fie and Tana Parker for their compassionate care.
