Waynesville -- Grady Noal Johnson, age 90, of 68 Poplar Holler Road, died on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Russell Alexander and Eliza Louise Harrison Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Johnson, three sisters; Verna Johnson Henley, Selma Johnson Ducket and Mary J. Cox Wilkerson. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired machine operator for A.C. Lawrence Leather Company. Grady enjoyed bear hunting and will especially be missed by his cats. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Daisy L. Johnson; one daughter, Linda Gail Yarborough, of Waynesville; one sister, Doty Johnson Knight, of Dothan, AL; one brother, Lenoard Bill Johnson, of Waterford, CT; four grandchildren; Anita Moore and her husband Rick, Willard Yarborough, Jr., and his wife Teresa, James Yarborough and his wife Tina and Mark Yarborough and his wife Dorraelynn, nine great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild two sisters-in-law, Cecilia Johnson of Asheville and Seleinda Hoyle of Jacksonville, FL, and a nephew, Robert Leatherwood and his wife, Oma Lou, of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Daryl Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home of Linda Yarborough, 68 Yarborough Street, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Rogerson, Steve Hightower, David Smith, Michael Hoyle, Robert Reid and Zach McGuinness.
