Grady Shook

Balsam, Grady C. "Tony" Shook, Jr., age 71, passed away this past week at his residence. He was the son of the late Mary and Grady C. Shook, Sr. and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Tristen Rice. Before his failing health, Tony enjoyed many fishing trips with his best buddy since childhood, Steve Robinson, and his bear-hunting trips with Ray Southerland, and Johnny and Cecil Jones. He attended Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Melanie Shook and a granddaughter, Ashley Rice, both of Clinton, South Carolina; one sister, Kitty Green, of Waynesville; and a brother, Bill Shook, of Brevard. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank his good friends for their many years of devoted and loyal friendship to Tony.
