Gregory Kirkpatrick

Sylva, Gregory Kevin Kirkpatrick, age 42, passed away on Monday September 13, 2010 at Memorial Campus. Kevin was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he is the son of Robert and Pat Griffith Kirkpatrick of Waynesville. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Willard Griffith and paternal grandmother, Cora Lee Kirkpatrick. He was a Sub-Contractor in the building industry. Kevin enjoyed his children, hunting, fishing, camping, golf and was a member of North Hazelwood Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is survived by a devoted loving wife, Kelly Wilkes Kirkpatrick; a son, Corban age 10 months and a daughter, Hayden age 8 of the home; a sister, Shannon Penland and her husband, Derrick, of Waynesville; maternal grandmother, Myrtle Griffith of Canton; paternal grandfather, Lewis Kirkpatrick, of Seymour, Tennessee; two nephews, Jacob and Jarrett Penland; one niece, Kylie Penland and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at North Hazelwood Baptist Church with Reverend James Hensley and Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. Kevin will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Plemmons, Mark Burris, Marion Ferguson, Stacy Price, Jeff Fowler, Paul Stiles, Butch Boring and John Dale. Honorary pallbearers will be David Queen, Adam Kauffman, Rex, Brandon and James Griffith. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. At other times the family will be at the residence of his parents, 75 Elizabeth Chapel Road, Waynesville.
