Gregory Sims

Canton – Gregory Allen “Greg” Sims, 34, passed away on January 5, 2022 at Mission Memorial Campus.

Greg was a native of Charleston, South Carolina and a son of Richard Allen and Linda Marie Brown Sims.  He was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and worked on # 1 rewinder at Evergreen Packaging.  Greg collected sports memorabilia, loved fishing, coached youth football at Bethel, and he especially loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 10 years, Amanda Mathis Sims; three sons, Mason, Owen, and Maddox Sims; a sister, Brandy Nigh (John) of Canton; two brothers, Brian Sims (Wendy) of Canton and Eddie Sims (Tessa) of Clarksville, Tennessee; his father and mother-in-law, Clinton and Paula Mathis of Waynesville; a sister-in-law, Lori Mathis of Waynesville; and several nieces and nephews which he cared so deeply about.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Matt Rhea and Reverend Kevin Valentine officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
