Gregory Thompson

Canton – Gregory Martin Thompson, age 64, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Billie Marie Blaylock Thompson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gloria "Jane" Brackett. He was a self-employed carpenter. Greg will be remembered for having a great sense of humor and one of his favorite outings was visiting flea markets. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp and held his military service in high regard. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Bill and Betty Thompson, who were dear to his heart, of Canton; a daughter, Tomi Thompson of Durham; a son, Tad Thompson of Sylva; a brother, Ron Thompson of Durham; a brother-in-law, Arnold Brackett of Canton; two grandchildren, Nute and Shelby Thompson; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. A remembrance service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Jack Holland officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the services.
