Greta Williams

Waynesville, Greta Caudill Williams, of Eagles Nest, slipped quietly away to her Heavenly home on Thursday, September 24, 2015 two days before her 73rd birthday. Though she battled end-stage kidney disease for 18 years, she and her husband, David, never let that stop them from living life and serving the Lord faithfully. She was often referred to as the Star Patient at Davita Waynesville Dialysis Center. Greta was born in Doty Creek, Kentucky, and moved to Louisville area as a child. She and her husband moved to the mountains to minister in 1997. In addition to her parents, Greta is predeceased by two brothers, Reverend Rogger Caudill and Jodie Caudill and a grandson, David Joseph Williams. She was graduated from Fern Creek High School, and the Boyce Bible School of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Louisville, Kentucky, and had taught hundreds of children the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (KY, IN, WV, and NC) Greta also enjoyed the Koiné of many churches over the years. She was married to the Reverend David A. Williams for 53 years, her partner in ministry and life, and was the mother of Joanna (Michael) Neubert, of Taylorsville, Kentucky; Michael D. (Renee) Williams, of Cox's Creek, Kentucky; Thomas D. (Kim) Williams, of Greenville, Indiana, and Ava J. (Scott) Smith, of Louisville, Kentucky. Greta is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Hollis Bird. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by two brothers, and two sisters, Gomer (Wanda) Caudill, Anna Cox, Curtis (Debbie) Caudill and Christene (Jim) Cunningham, all of the Louisville, Kentucky area. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 in the sanctuary of Woodland Baptist Church with Reverend William Alan Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 prior to the service at the church. To honor her memory, and the Lord whom she loved so well, memorials may be made to the Missions Fund of the Woodland Baptist Church, 545 Crabtree Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
