Griffin Deal

Griffin Bull Deal, Jr., 65, of Candler, passed away at home on Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was born in Virginia Beach, VA to the late Griffin and Anne McLean Deal and attended Hampden-Sydney and Mars Hill Colleges. He never lost his love of the sand, salt air and waves of the ocean, but grew to love the majesty and solitude of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Griff loved nothing more than riding the waves and the thrill and challenge of fishing. He was a surfer and fisherman at heart who also loved snow skiing, snorkeling and traveling to the islands.
Griff felt blessed to receive so much support and love from many lifelong friends as well as those he was able to reconnect with.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Dunham Deal; sister, Anne Beavers; niece, Kristina Beavers; brothers-in-law, Danny and Keith (Kim) Dunham.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30PM on Thursday, April 17th at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn with Arthur Riddle officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park Bldg 1, Asheville NC 28801.
