Gusta Holder

Gusta May Shope Holder, age 93, died Sunday March 27th, 2011 in East Flat Rock, North Carolina. Gusta was born October 6th, 1917 in Canton, North Carolina to Amos J. Shope and Mary Jane Abbott Shope. She was the youngest of six children. She attended school in Canton until she went to work for Roses' Department Store, before going to work for Champion Paper and Fiber, and Hartnett's Electric Service formerly located on 5th Avenue in Hendersonville. She was the loving wife of the late Henry L. Holder. They were married October 30th, 1945 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage until Henry passed away in 1998. She is survived by her son, David Holder and his wife, Sandra Garrett Holder, daughter, Brenda H. Cathcart , her granddaughter, Elizabeth H. Chrivia and her great-granddaughter, Marilyn Chrivia. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 31st at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Morning Star Methodist Church with visitation at 1 o'clock. Reverend Douglas Love will be officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Methodist Church Cemetery alongside her late husband.
