Guy Wright

Guy Grady Wright, age 90, died on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Newton and Narkie Hammett Wright. He was also preceded in death by several brothers; a sister, and a son, Mike Wright. Guy was owner and operator of Champion Tire Company. He was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church. Guy was a highly decorated United States Army veteran serving in World War II, whose citations included a Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Elliott Wright; a son, Jerry Wright and his wife, Vickie; two daughters, Diane Allen and Donna Villazon and her husband, Michael, all of Canton; a sister, Thelma Bradshaw of Florida; ten grandchildren; a great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Ed Lowder officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
