Clyde-Harlie Lewis Burris, age 78, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006 at his residence. A native of Graham County, he had lived most of his life in Haywood County and was the son of the late George W. and Myrtle Crisp Burris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jackson Burris; four brothers, Ferrell, Floyd, Ray, and Willie Burris; and three sisters, Loi Burris, Ella Mashburn, and Ina Sawyer. He was owner/operator of Burris Landscaping for 50 years before retiring 1993. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Richland Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter, Gloria Deaver and her husband, Michael Terry, of Waynesville; two sons, Ron Burris and Michael Burris and his fiancé, Tracy, of Waynesville; one sister, Dare Rogers, of Hazelwood; two brothers, McKinley Burris of the Bethel Community and Landon Burris of Hazelwood; five grandchildren, Elijah, Eddie, and Heath Burris, Lane Deaver and his fiancé, Lynette Bryson, and Tiffany Burris Roten; and seven great grandchildren, Aidan, Alex, and Ariana Roten, Asheley and Valerie Francis, Jessie Burris, and Lakoda Deaver. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening prior to the service.
