Lake Junaluska-Harold H. Bryson, 72, died Saturday, July 9th, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William H. and Essie Hooper Bryson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Nell B. Wiggins. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Miller Bryson; a son, Timothy H. Bryson, and wife, Kathy, of Asheville; two daughters, Susan B. Boutwell, and husband, Dave, of Summerville, SC and Lisa B. Cleaveland and husband, Jimmy, of Clyde; two sisters, June B. Branson and husband, Bill, and Sandra B. Davis and husband, Bruce; three grandchildren Olivia Mann, and Anna and Clay Cleaveland; and brother-in-law Sam Wiggins. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville where he had served as a children's Sunday School teacher, and he belonged to the Adult III Men's Sunday School class. He graduated from Waynesville Township High School and attended Clemson and Western Carolina Universities. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was an excavation contractor and owner/operator of Harold Bryson Construction for more than 40 years and retired in 1998. He loved his church, religious music, his work, and taking motor home trips. Harold was a kind and gentle man and was devoted to his wife and family. He will be loved and cherished in their memory always. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince, Reverend Dr. Daniel Matthews and Reverend Dr. Richard Maples officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Celebrate the Challenge, First Baptist Church of Waynesville, P.O. Box 690, Waynesville, NC 28786, or the charity of one's choice.
