Harold Haskitt, Jr.

March 28, 1919 — December 14, 2007

Maggie Valley-Harold Oren Haskitt, Jr., age, 88 of Wayahzooshuga Road, died Friday, December 14, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Grandville, Michigan, Mr. Haskitt resided in that state until 1976. Thereafter, he moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, Oak Ridge, TN, and then settled in Haywood County, where he resided for six years. He was a son of the late Harold Oren Haskitt, Sr., and Dorothy Lee Ferguson Haskitt. His brother Robert Jack Haskitt also preceded him in death. Mr. Haskitt was a college professor at General Motors Institute, having taught public speaking for 29 years before retiring in 1976. He was a United States Air Force veteran who served in World War II. He is survived by two sons, William Robert Haskitt of Ashburn, VA, Douglas Alexander Haskitt of St. Petersburg, FL, a daughter, Rebecca Ann Haskitt, and her husband Phil Dennis of Chico, CA, a half-brother Richard Russell Haskitt of Redmond, WA, and one grandson Scott William Haskitt of Newtown Square, PA. Mr. Haskitt was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. He was briefly under Hospice care, and no services are planned.
