Clyde-Harold A. Haynes, age 78, of Bea Street, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fulmer and Eliza McGowan Haynes. He was also preceded in death by a son, Trent Haynes, who died in 1983 and a sister and two brothers. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 47 and VFW Post 5202 of Waynesville. He worked at Dayco for 23 years in the Textile Department. He was a member of North Hazelwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Wright Haynes; two daughters, Brenda Harrell, and her husband, Joe, of Fletcher, NC and Harolene Stepp and her husband, Tony, of Clyde; one sister, JoAnn Leonard, of Clyde; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend G. W. Jameson and Reverend Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow in the Haynes Family Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the services and at other times, will be at the home of Harolene and Tony Stepp, Haynes Hill Road, Clyde. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
