Harold Olsen

Waynesville, Harold Tevis Olsen, age 94, of Brook Street, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of New York, he was the son of the late Julius and Marie Topf Olsen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Tinc Olsen, who died in 2002 and a daughter, Rita Zack. Mr. Olsen was a veteran of the US Navy's Sea Bees having served during World War II in the South Pacific and enjoyed model railroading. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Vleit, and her husband, Richard, of Waynesville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one due in July. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786.
