Harriet Dotson

Waynesville, Harriet Margaret Mehaffey Dotson, age 93, of 26 Courtland Court, died on Friday, March 7, 2008. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Sebe and Laura Wood Mehaffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Dotson, who died in 1974; six brothers, Fred, O'dell, Medford, Horace, Clem, and George Mehaffey; and two sisters, Berta Medford and Myrtle Smith. She was the site manager and instructor for Elderly Nutrition Program and had worked for more than 17 years as a senior aid working with the Senior Companion Program and Adult Daycare. She was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Sue Dotson Greene of Waynesville and Jewell Dotson McElroy of Trussville, Alabama; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from Noon until time of service. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
