Harriett Burns

Waynesville, Harriett M. Burns, age 94, of 622 Haywood Street, died on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Smokey Mountain Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, she resided in Newark, NJ before moving to Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late William and Harriett Stephenson Burns and was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Thomas, and Donald and three sisters, Elizabeth, Edna, and Hannah Ruth. She was a retired registered nurse and was employed by the Presbyterian Hospital in Newark, NJ. She is survived by one sister, Sara Staiger, of Waynesville; and nieces and nephews, Douglas Staiger and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, of Clyde, NC, Susan Lord and Phillip of New York, Sarah Ann Hampshire and Brian, of Kentucky, and Carolyn Burns, in Israel, Richard and Peter Kee of California, and Donald Burns, of Florida, and Barbara Burns of Florida. Funeral services will be held in Pennsylvania.
