Harrison Caldwell

Waynesville, Harrison William Caldwell, 81, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his residence. Harrison was born and lived in Haywood County for his lifetime. He was the son of the late James and Avie McElroy Caldwell and was also preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and later retired from BASF's Research Department after 33 years employment. Harrison was an avid trout fisherman, who also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, gardening, and carpentry. He was a member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church Harrison is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine Sanford Caldwell; a daughter, Krystal Howell and her husband, Doug, of Pensacola, Florida; a son, Kevin Caldwell, of Hiawassee, Georgia; four grandchildren, Zachary and Lacy Caldwell and Logan and Madison Howell; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Wyatt and Reverend Neal Roland officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Chapel Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by Haywood County Honor Guard. The family will receive friend from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
