Canton, Harry F. Kerley, age 75, of 84 Filter Plant Road, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Edna Nichols Kerley. Harry retired from Champion International with 37 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of the Canton VFW. He was also a member of Balsam Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Doris Nichols Reece Kerley; one daughter, Donna Kerley, of Waynesville; one stepson, Thomas Lee Reece, Sr. of Canton; two brothers, Joe Kerley of Virginia and Bill Kerley, and his wife, Betty, of Coco Beach, Florida; two nieces, Diane Messer and Carrie Lynn Arrington; one nephew, Bill Messer; several nieces and nephews in FL., four step- grandchildren and four step great –grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Balsam Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with Military Services conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to Balsam Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
