Canton – Harry Lee Stamey, Jr., 91, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a native of Jackson County and had lived in Haywood County most of his life. Harry was the son of the late Harry Lee Stamey, Sr., and Anna Dee Leatherwood Stamey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Bailey Stamey, who died in 2019; and two brothers, Jim and Dick Stamey.
Harry was a member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church where he coached church softball. He retired from Champion International with over 40 years of service. Harry was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and was a United States Air Force veteran.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Guest and her husband, Dr. William Guest, of Advance, North Carolina, Jeannie Haney and her husband, Danny, of Clyde, and Harriet Townsend and her husband, Howard, of Canton; one son, Greg Stamey and wife, Donna, of Canton; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several niece and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The care of Mr. Stamey has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
