Harvey Budkie, Jr.

Waynesville-Harvey Edward Budkie, Jr. age 78 of 241 Spirit Mountain Trail died Sunday February 27, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the son of the late Harvey E. Budkie, Sr. and Irene Blattner Budkie. He was also preceded in death by a son Joey Budkie who died in 1991. He was retired Sgt. Major with the United States Army and had served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also had tours of duty in Austria and Germany and retired at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Following his retirement he was a ROTC instructor at Camden High School in Camden, SC for fourteen years. He had resided in Haywood County since 1990. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Myong Yu Budkie; one daughter, Barbara Coleman of Columbia, SC; two stepdaughters, Kellie Williamson of Irmo, SC and Bambi Davis of Columbia, SC; two sons, Eric Budkie and Geoffrey Budkie both of Columbia, SC; one sister, Carolyn Sylvia Cassel of Cincinnati, Ohio and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Eddie Dietz officiating. Burial will follow in the veteran's section of Green Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home.
