Hattie Cook

Waynesville, Hattie Wilsie Duckett Cook, age 87, of Lum Boone Circle, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Hattie Lorena Bramlett Duckett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Cook, and two brothers, Ralph and Luther Duckett. Hattie retired from Wellco after 33 years of service and was an in-home worker at Mountain Projects and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading and gardening and feeding the birds and also enjoyed playing Bingo at Autumn Care. Hattie is survived by her children, Vicky Gunter (Eddie) and Janice Cook (Gene Hill) and Kyle Cook (Karen Conard), all of Waynesville; a sister, Estelee Waters, of Union Mills, North Carolina; grandchildren, Chrystal Shelton (Andy) and Heath Gunter; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ali and Carter Shelton and Ross Gunter; and one great-great-grandson, Miles Shelton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kent Loudermilk officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to services at the funeral home.
