Waynesville-Hazel ''Maw'' Phillips, age 89, of Edwards Cove Road, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Irene Radford Warren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Allison Phillips, who died in 1979; a son, Charles William ''Bill'' Phillips; a daughter, Linda Lee Demick; and a sister, Jessie Allison. She was a retired of employee of Welco and a former employee of Mountain Pride Tomato Packing Company. She enjoyed visiting Lake Chatuge and loved gardening and family.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Bryson, and her husband, Ronald, of Mills River and Mary Kay Cody, and her husband, Neil, of Hiwassie, Georgia; two sons, Bobby ''Buddy'' Phillips, and his wife, Maxine, of Waynesville and Stanley Ray Phillips, and his wife, Lisa, of Ft. Gaines, Georgia; one sister, Florence Ledbetter, of Canton; three brothers, Don Rogers, Reverend Jay Rogers, and Vaughn Rogers, all of Canton; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Odem officiating. Burial will follow at Inman's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 on Wednesday prior to the services. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
