Hazel F. Sorrells "Proverbs 31 Lady" Canton – Hazel Catherine Frady Sorrells, age 90, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Carey and Rhetta Henry Frady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Harrison Sorrells, who died in 2000; four brothers, Claude, Hugh, Lamar & Jesse Frady; and four sisters, Nola Rich, Grace Erwin, Katy Chambers, and Frances Frady. Hazel was devoted to her family always placing them above all else and her Christian faith was her rock. She was the oldest living female and dedicated member of Riverside Baptist Church where she directed Vacation Bible School for nine years, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. Hazel loved the outdoors and you could always find her outside working in her yard. She is survived by two sons, Lewis Lynn Sorrells and his wife, Mary, of Asheville, and Danny H. Sorrells and his wife Debbie, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Angie Sorrells Conard, Jody Sorrells, Rachel Sorrells and her husband, Cameron Reed, and Franklin Sorrells; four great-grandchildren, Davian Reed, Tova Reed, Bo Reed, and Kyndal Conard; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Riverside Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Frazier, Reverend Dr. Mike Odom, and Reverend Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
