Hazel Sweatman

Hazel Sisk Sweatman, age 90, of the Bethel community peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2008 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James A and Olive Virginia "Hester" Burrell Sisk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonzie Sweatman; three sisters, Tulon West, Maude Peek, and Clara Lou DeBord Westmoreland. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Hazel had a wonderful sense of humor and she enjoyed being outdoors flowering and gardening. She loved most animals especially cats and her pair of geese. She showed exceptional fondness to her nieces and nephews as well as her baby brother, but she had a unique way of making everyone feel special. She is survived by a brother, James E. Sisk and his wife, Sue, of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
