Hazel Thompson

Clyde, Hazel Rogers Thompson, age 91, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Erastus "Rat" and Dora Cook Rogers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Clayton Trantham, Milburn Brown, and Claude Thompson. She was a retired Dayco Corporation employee who also worked as a caregiver and took care of many who were sick and elderly. Hazel had a very kind and caring heart and took care of many including her neighbors. She attended Clyde Church of God and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by two daughters, Zela Miller and her husband, Donald, of Waynesville and Shirley Russell and her husband, Carroll, of Canton; 4 grandchildren, Donna Boone of Canton, LlaLeet Cox and Gina Smith, both of Waynesville, and Marlene Miller of Tennessee; 11 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Irene Sharpe, the Ford family, and the late Alberta Price. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Nations officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
