Helen Caldwell

Waynesville, Helen "Jackie" White Caldwell, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Union County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ebe and Lula Jenkins White. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Mountain View Garden Club, Friends of the Library, and the Waynesville Golf Club. She was a lifetime honorary member of the Haywood Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. Jackie retired as supervisor of the Haywood County Board of Elections and as Executive Director of the Waynesville United Way after serving 26 years in both positions concurrently. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond Kenneth Caldwell. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Sanford L. "Sandy" Giles, Jr. and Reverend Kathleen M. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
