Helen Theresa Dubiel age 92, formerly of East Hartford passed away peacefully on June 1, 2014 in North Carolina. She was born in Coventry, CT., and was the second daughter of the late Stanley and Stella Jaksina Pliska. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Dubiel, brothers, Walter and Stanley Pliska, and two sisters, Josephine Barnes and Genevee Kubis. A person of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Helen was good at anything she did, be it bookkeeping or farming. Her adventurous nature led her from Connecticut, to California and most recently to North Carolina. She loved her family, people, and especially laughter. She was kind and generous to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Barbara, son-in-law, William Dinwiddie, Jr. and grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan and Alexandra Dinwiddie of North Carolina, sisters, Mary Walker, and Patricia Brennan, sisters-in-law, Rosemary Pliska, Elizabeth Levay, Marge Dubiel, brothers-in-law, Carl and Donald Dubiel, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church with Father Andrzej Pogorzelski officiating. Burial will be at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salesian Missions, 2 Lefevre Lane, New Rochelle, New York 10801-5710.
