Waynesville, Helen "Jerlene" Farley, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. She was a native of Proctor Swain County, NC and moved to Hazelwood at the age of eight. She was the daughter of the late Ferman Farley and Dessie Smith Farley. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Sadie Farley; maternal grandparents, William and Eldie Smith and a niece, Helen Price. Ms. Farley was employed by B&P Trucklines, Hazelwood Truck Service for 42 years, and then worked for Dollar General for 5 years before retiring in 2006. She is survived by one brother, Edward Farley, and his wife, Eula Mae, of Waynesville, niece, Jo Ann Messer, and her husband, Bobby, of Clyde; niece Krissy Price of Waynesville; nephew, Joel Price, and his wife, Keri, of Waynesville; several cousins and a special friend Tommy Hooper of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Downs officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at Edward Farley's home 39 Spruce Street, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Messer, Joel Price, Richard Woodard, Farley Woodard, Charlie Deaver and Eddie Ross.
