Helen Gibson

December 22, 1914 — March 26, 2004

Waynesville-Helen Charlotte Goodson Gibson, age 89, of Arabian Point, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at her residence.

She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Jerry Newton and Emma Burton Goodson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jethro Ebenezer Gibson, who died in 1987, by a son, James Gibson, a daughter, Betty Gibson, two brothers, and five sisters. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Jerry Gibson and his wife, Elva of Waynesville; five daughters, Annie Sue Lillard and her husband, Johnny of Asheville, Jackie Warren and her husband, Claude, Jr. of Canton, Emma Jo Gibson, and Charlotte Baldwin and her husband, Ray, all of Clyde, and Margaret Bozarth and her husband, Glen of Bethel; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2004 at the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. The Reverend John Barnes will officiate. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, prior to the services, at the funeral home.

The pallbearers will be William Welch, Jason Randy Warren, Jethro Adam Warren, Robert Eric Downs, Jose Louis Haley, Michael Hudson Rogers, Tommy Eugene O'Kelley, and Horace Junior Downs.
