Marie & Homer James

Homer and Marie James, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024.  Marie was born on December 20, 1939, and Homer was born on May 2, 1930, both in Haywood County.  Marie and Homer's passing came as a great sorrow to their family and friends, as they tragically left this world together.

Marie will always be remembered for the profound love and dedication she had for her family. As a homemaker, her primary role was caring for her loved ones, which brought her immeasurable joy throughout her life. The warmth and compassion she exuded made their house feel like a loving embrace and a sanctuary of comfort.

Homer touched the lives of many during his time on this Earth. Homer was a dedicated employee of Powell Hardwood for an impressive span of 21 years. His commitment to hard work and perseverance made him highly respected amongst his colleagues.

Born Helen Marie Bolden to John and Bertie Shipman Bolden, Marie grew up in Haywood County surrounded by the beauty of nature that she cherished dearly. In the quiet serenity of this small community, Marie learned the values of hard work, resilience, and unwavering love for family. These values would shape her character and guide her through the many stages of life.

Homer, the son of Lewis and Annie Parks James, was born and raised on Fines Creek. He developed a strong sense of community and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Homer's warm heart and gentle nature made him a cherished member of society.

Marie and Homer's legacies are carried on by their two beloved daughters: Bertha Ann Bryson and Rebecca Sue Conner. Their unconditional love provided them with strength during difficult times and inspired them to become strong women with compassionate hearts.

Marie and Homer's love expanded even further when they became grandparents. Their kindness engulfed their two grandchildren, Farrah Stevenson and Jenny Ingle, with warmth and tenderness that created unforgettable memories for all involved.   The bond between Marie and Homer and their grandchildren will forever be cherished in their hearts.  They were also blessed with seven great-grandchildren:   Kallon, Bentley, twins, Jaelyn & Ryker, Callie, Cain, and Caleb.

Marie and Homer will be deeply missed by their loved ones.  Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertie Shipman Bolden.   Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Annie Parks James.  Their parents provided guidance that shaped them into the remarkable people they were.  While their passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, the memories they shared together will forever remain in their hearts.

Homer has departed this earthly plane, his spirit lives on through those he leaves behind.. Homer's legacy also extends to his sister Dorothy Kidd (Ronnie), and two brothers: Frank James (Liz) and Kenneth James (Genieve).
