Helen Kuykendall

Helen Wilson Kuykendall passed away peacefully at Pigeon Valley Rest Home on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Helen was born on January 5, 1918 in Haywood County and was the daughter of the late William Albert Wilson and Delola Burnette Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Gene" Kuykendall; and her brothers Paul, Harley, Eugene, Bassie and Pless Wilson. Helen was employed for many years by American Enka Corporation and enjoyed her retirement, spending time with family and friends, and making her home a warm and welcoming place. Helen was a lifelong member of Morning Star United Methodist Church and leaves behind many treasured and loyal friends in her church family. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Wilson Haynes and nieces Pat Haynes Crisp and Carol Haynes Fisk, Beth Wilson Pope, Jill Wilson Rogers, Jean Wilson Hall, nephew Wayne Wilson, as well as spouses. Helen is also survived by numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Ortigoza and Mr. Stanley King officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morning Star UMC Kitchen Fund, 2535 Dutch Cove Road, Canton NC 28716.
