Helen Mcnamara

Waynesville, Helen Irene McNamara, 97, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at The Homestead. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Lee John and Mary Marcus Sawyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim McNamara, who died in 1988; three sons, Babe Ruth, Paul Lewis and Donald Burris; two daughters, Wilma Hazelwood and Peggy Liner; a sister, Lavada Silvers; and two brothers, Hal and Paul Sawyer. Helen enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jim, and loved to play bingo Helen is survived by a son, Tommy Burris (Susie) of Waynesville; a sister, Louise Moore, of Greenwood, South Carolina; a brother, Glenn Sawyer (Jean) of Gastonia; and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
