Helen Nelson

Waynesville, Helen Settlemyre Nelson, 91, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late W. K. and Nellie Nations Settlemyre. She was also preceded in death by her husband Wiley Nelson, Jr. who died in 1987; and two sister's Betty Anthony and Dell Tennant. Helen was a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by a son Wiley Keith Nelson, of Waynesville; one sister Kathryn Bragg Jones, of Bryson City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Donnie Bryson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Open Door Ministries, 32 Commerce St. Waynesville, NC 28786.
