Helen Sherrill

Helen Clampitt Sherrill, age 77, of 49 Wesley Street, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Macon County but had resided in Haywood County for most of her life and was a daughter of the late Renfro and Maude Howard Clampitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Sherrill, who died in 2001. Helen enjoyed horses and attending horse shows and related activities. She provided loving care for many members of her family and was a member of Long's United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Chuck Sherrill and his wife, Annette, of Nashville, TN and Rick Sherrill and his wife, Tricia, of Columbia, TN; two sisters, Edith Buchanan of North Augusta, SC and Shirley Bailey of Asheville; two brothers and their wives, Clifton and Jean Clampitt, of Canton, and Jimmy and Susan Clampitt, of Cullowhee; three sisters-in-law, Elsie Harkins of Canton, Sue Waters of Concord, NC and Joyce Walter of Wingate, NC; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gerald T. Denham officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
