Helen Sutton

Maggie Valley, Helen Ruth Sutton, 76, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Helen was born in North Carolina and had previously resided in Hickory before moving to Haywood County. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, J.D. and Annie Sutton. Helen was a lover of nature and enjoyed bird watching. She was also fond of animals, especially her cats. She was active in Hemphill Baptist Church for many years. Helen is survived by her husband, Odis Sutton, of Black Mountain; a son, Rocky Sutton and his wife; a grandson, Jonathan Sutton, of Maiden, North Carolina; and special friends, Phyllis Vance and Patricia Hall, of Maggie Valley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Mike Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Cove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to Hemphill Baptist Church.
